What is IFA?
IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin) is an annual industrial exhibition that takes place in Berlin, Germany. It is one of the oldest industrial exhibitions in Germany, having started in 1924. Over 240,000 visitors from 100 countries attend the event making it Europe’s biggest. And it’s one of the leading trade shows in the world for consumer electronics and home appliances. If you are a consumer electronics manufacturer doing business in EMEA or if you plan to launch here in the next 12 months, IFA is certainly worth your consideration.
Who exhibits at IFA?
From innovative startups to the world’s largest home appliance brands, IFA is the most important showcase in Europe. The exhibitor list is primarily manufacturers and distributors and covers categories as diverse as smart home, audio, home appliances and drones.
Who visits IFA?
The event attracts visitors from each part of the consumer electronics supply chain – manufacturers, distributors, retailers and consumers. Each has different reasons for attending but most will meet with both new and existing customers and suppliers. The show also provides the opportunity to see the latest products from those manufacturers who exhibit.
Getting the most out of IFA
With over 150,000 square metres (1.6M square feet) of floor space, it’s important to plan your visit carefully. The IFA Website contains an Interactive Floor Plan allowing you to see the layout for each hall. There’s also an IFA app you can refer to whilst you are on the move. Exhibitors are usually grouped together by product category. If you are scheduling meetings it makes sense to arrange them based on location. And if you are visiting for more than one day it may be sensible to limit yourself to one or two locations each day. As with any trade show make sure you wear comfortable shoes and don’t forget to pack those exhibition essentials! Water, lip balm, paper tissues, mints, lozenges and pain relief tablets are always useful.
Unlock EMEA at IFA
IFA is one of the most important shows on the calendar for Unlock EMEA and as always, most of the team will be attending this year. We will be meeting new and existing clients, catching up with channel partners and checking out what’s new in the world of consumer electronics. Most of our time will be spent working on behalf of our clients presenting their product ranges to new and exisiting channel partners.
